Welcome to The Farsight Institute's Video
Chat!
People from all over the world can meet face-to-face here at The Farsight
Institute's video chat to talk about remote viewing. This is a state-of-the-art
video conferencing facility that is easy to use and freely available to
the remote-viewing community. We even use this virtual facility to have
our own meetings, and even to teach remote viewing worldwide. There is
no cost to use these facilities.
To begin, you need an Internet connection (which you already have since
you are reading this page), the Windows XP or Windows 2000 operating system
on your computer, and the Internet Explorer web browser. You need a web
cam connected to your computer for others to see you. Your computer or
web cam also needs a microphone for you to speak, and your computer must
have speakers for you to hear others speak. If you are using a laptop,
you should probably use ear buds, head phones, or external speakers. (See
the short list of technical requirements below.)
The first time you enter these facilities, your Internet Explorer web
browser will either automatically install or request that you download
and install an Active X control that works like an instant messenger system
(but much better). The download and install take only a few seconds when
using DSL or Cable. Your video conferencing can then proceed instantly.
These facilities are run off of our own server and powered by Camfrog
Web. There is no spyware or adware involved in this.
To begin, enter a nick name, and then click on "Video Conferencing
Area." After the Active X control is installed (this only happens
the first time you use this system), you can click on a settings button
to make sure your settings for the video chat are OK (be sure your web
cam is selected as your video capture device). You can then enter the
video chat and you will find yourself in the "Lobby." You can
then hang around in the Lobby and talk with people, or you can enter the
room of your choice. Please note that some rooms are password protected.
But during scheduled public events, a room will not require a password
to enter.
